Ce livre ont pour objectif de faire des prédictions sur les propriétés propagatrices et dispersives des fibres à cristaux photoniques (PCF) dans le but de concevoir de nouveaux composants dédiés aux télécommunications optiques. Les caractéristiques originales des PCF sont également attractives pour d'autres applications de la bio-photonique et de l'optique non linéaire. Les diagrammes de dispersion ont été réalisés pour l'indice effectif, la dispersion chromatique, le domaine spectrale monomode, ainsi que sur le couplage de modes pour une fibre à deux coeurs. L'étude numérique que nous avons réalisée nous a permis d'évaluer la dépendance entre les caractéristiques du couplage et les paramètres géométriques d'une PCF à deux coeurs. Deux types de composants fonctionnant sur ce principe ont été proposés : un démultiplexeur à deux longueurs d'onde, et un coupleur à séparation de polarisation.
