due to their numerous therapeutic effects. The objective of our study was to conduct a
phytochemical analysis of different fractions derived from the leaves of Thymus Serpyllum

flavonoids, and hydrolysable tannins. Additionally, we characterized the antioxidant activity
using standard methods such as DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging assays, as well as ferric
reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and phenanthroline assays. We also tested the
antidiabetic activity through α-amylase inhibition and the anti-inflammatory activity by
inhibiting BSA denaturation induced by heat. Lastly, we evaluated the antimicrobial activity
of the extracts. Our results showed significant levels of total phenols and flavonoids,
particularly in the hydroalcoholic extract of Thymus Serpyllum, which was superior to the
extract of Marrubium Vulgare L. Regarding the antioxidant activity, both tested extracts
demonstrated significant activities, especially the hydroalcoholic extract of Thymus, which
was comparable to the reference Trolox in the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging methods.
Furthermore, the studied extracts exhibited variable activities in the FRAP and
phenanthroline assays, with the latter extract demonstrating the strongest effect while the
other extract was far from being comparable to the reference molecule Trolox.Furthermore,
the enzyme inhibitory activity and antibacterial activity showed that our samples did not
inhibit α-amylase or the selected bacterial strains in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally,
the Marrubium extract provided a high level of protection against heat-induced BSA
denaturation and exhibited antifungal activity. Our results justify the traditional use of the
studied plant in Algeria and highlight the biological and pharmacological effects of the
extracts. They also open up multiple future perspectives that will undoubtedly enrich the

(101 f.) Our work aims to carry out a phytochemical study and to evaluate the biological activities of the essential oils of O.vulgare, F.vulgare and D.virgatus. Ointments based on essential oils have been formulated and tested for their healing effects. The HEs are extracted by clevengerhydrodistillation from the aerial parts of O.vulgare and f.vulgare. The extraction yields are 0.93% and 0.36 respectively. The qualitative estimation of secondary metabolites is carried out by phytochemical screening by showing the presence of sterol and terpenes, cardiac glucosides, catechic tannins, flavonoids, mucilage and alkaloids. The evaluation of antimicrobial activity was determined using the agar diffusion method (aromatogram) with respect to the 3 pathogenic strains (E coli, S aureus, Candida albicans) used to test HEs, O.vulgare showed the best effect with a 26 mm HE inhibition diameter of oregano with the fungal strain Candida albicans. The antioxidant activity of HEs was studied by two different methods, the trapping of the radical DPPH and the bleaching of beta-carotene, These were compared with those of BHT and ascorbic acid, we find that the HE of oregano gave the best anti-activityradical (IC50 = 143.66 4.09 ug/ml). In addition the anti-inflammatory activity was carried out in vitro and in vivo signaling that the HE of Daucus virgatus which gave the best order anti-inflammatory power (0.359 0.025 mg/ml) in vitro and a percentage of edema inhibition after 3 hours (70.54%) compared to diclofenac® (56.25%) in vivo. The healing effect of the formulated ointments was tested on mice of the genus wistar albinos, we note that the ointment prepared with the association between HEs of (D.virgatus and f.vulgare) gave the best healing effect after 15 days compared to the Biafine. We conclude that the association of our essential oils studied during this work represents a good alternative to Biafine.
