Ce livre, basé sur un cours de troisième cycle sur la géométrie riemannienne et l'analyse des variétés, tenu à Paris, aborde les thèmes des variétés différentielles, les métriques riemanniennes, les connexions, la géodésique et la courbure, en mettant l'accent sur les caractéristiques intrinsèques du sujet. Les résultats classiques sur les relations entre courbure et topologie sont traités en détail. Le livre est assez autonome, en supposant que le lecteur utilise uniquement le calcul différentiel dans l'espace euclidien. Il contient de nombreux exercices avec des solutions complètes et une série d’exemples détaillés qui sont choisis de manière répétée pour illustrer chaque nouvelle définition ou propriété introduite.Pour cette troisième édition, des thèmes relatifs au flux géodésique et à la géométrie lorentzienne ont été ajoutés et précisés dans le même esprit.Note de contenu :
