mobilité augmente = The thermally evaporated Permalloy Ni80Fe20 (Py) thin films on two different
substrates, GaAs (100) and Si(100), with different thickness, are studied in this work. The
effect of Py thickness on their physical properties is examined. In order to determine their
structure, microstructure, surface morphology, chemical compositions and electrical
properties, the deposited Py films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning
electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (SEM-EDS), atomic
force microscopy (AFM) and the Hall Effect measurement system (HMS-5300) tools. The
obtained X-ray diffraction spectra confirm the formation of Ni3Fe phase and showed that all
samples crystallize in FCC structure with <111> preferred orientation. The grain size and
lattice parameter were calculated from X-ray diffraction (111) peak and have shown an
increase with increasing thickness for Py/GaAs samples, while we noticed a decrease with
increasing film thickness of Py/Si samples. In general, the values of the lattice parameter
obtained for all samples, are somewhat close to that of bulk reported in the literature
abulk=3.5523 Ǻ.SEM micrographs of Py/GaAs samples exhibited an extremely dense structure
without micro-cracks and a very fine spherical grain distribution, and clearly show a nonuniform distribution of quasi-spherical aggregates on the granular surface of Py/Si films, as
well as the appearance of micro-cracks for the thickest film of 307 nm thickness. In addition,
AFM images showed a very smooth surface for all deposited Py/GaAs films, as well as the
formation of crystallites in Stranski-Krastanov mode for Py/Si films, with the roughness
values ranging from 0.1999 to 2.482 nm. Electrical measurements revealed that the electrical
resistivity and the magnetoresistance decreased with increasing film thickness, while the
mobility increased. |
