La radiothérapie conformationnelle est un compromis entre la nécessité d'irradier suffisamment
le volume cible afin d'obtenir un effet curatif et la nécessité de limiter l'irradiation des tissus
voisins afin de réduire les effets secondaires ; ainsi, pour un traitement de qualité, la
radiothérapie conformationnelle nécessite des contrôles de qualité plus fréquents et plus précis
afin de juger de la conformité de la machine (l’accélérateur linéaires d’électrons) et de s'assurer
qu'elle ne se détériore pas dans le temps.
La radiothérapie externe a bénéficié d'importantes avancées techniques ces dernières années.
La radiothérapie à modulation d'intensité (IMRT) est un progrès important dans l'administration
de la radiothérapie qui peut améliorer les résultats pour les patients en réduisant la morbidité et
en renforçant le contrôle local des tumeurs. Les méthodes d'administration comprennent celles
qui reposent sur des dispositifs et des machines de traitement sur mesure, ainsi que celles qui
exploitent les capacités des collimateurs multilames contrôlés par ordinateur, plus généralement
disponibles. La complexité des procédures IMRT nécessite un niveau élevé de contrôle de
qualité, tant au niveau du fonctionnement de l'équipement que de l'administration du traitement
à chaque patient. L'objectif de ce projet est de spécifier les processus de contrôle, les tolérances
admissibles et la fréquence des tests. Il s'agit d'un contrôle mécanique qui s'effectue sous forme
de tests, tels que les différents degrés de liberté de la table de traitement, du bras et du support
de l’accélérateur linéaire, et le contrôle dosimétrique du faisceau de photons et d'électrons, afin
de vérifier les caractéristiques (rendement en profondeur (PDD) et profil de dose du faisceau)
dans un fantôme d'eau placé à une distance source-surface, vérification nécessaire pour une
concordance avec les paramètres introduits dans le système de planification de traitement de
