Dans l'excitation et le rythme rapide des développements, l'écriture de textes pédagogiques a une faible priorité pour la plupart des chercheurs. Cependant, en transformant mes notes de lecture sur ce livre, j'ai trouvé un avantage personnel: l'organisation de ce que je comprend dans une séquence logique (espérons-le simple). Très peu dans ce texte est ma contribution originale. La plupart des connaissances ont été recueillies dans la littérature de recherche. Certains ont été acquis par des conversations avec des collègues; Une sorte de physique, la tradition orale passée entre les disciples d'une foi semblable. Pendant de nombreuses années, la théorie des perturbations schématiques a été l'outil théorique majeur pour traiter les interactions dans les métaux, les semi-conducteurs, les aimants itinérants et les supraconducteurs. C'est en substance une faible expansion de couplage à propos des quasi-particules libres. De nombreuses découvertes expérimentales au cours de la dernière décennie, y compris les fermions lourds, l'effet Hall quantique fractionnaire, la supraconductivité à haute température et les chaînes de spin quantiques, ne sont pas facilement accessibles du point de vue du couplage faible. Par conséquent, ces dernières années ont connu un développement vigoureux d'outils alternatifs non perturbateurs pour la manipulation de fortes interactions électron-électron.
Je me concentre sur deux paradigmes fondamentaux de systèmes quantiques fortement interactifs (ou contraints): le modèle Hubbard et le modèle Heisenberg. Ces modèles sont des véhicules pour des concepts fondamentaux, tels que des héraldiques efficaces, des états de terrain variés, une rupture de symétrie spontanée et un désordre quantique. L'évolution rapide connue par notre monde actuel est basée sur l'utilisation massive des ressources énergétiques en raréfaction (pétrole, gaz naturel, charbon). De plus, la consommation énorme des énergies fossiles provoque une pollution atmosphérique majeure entraînant une accumulation de CO2 dans l'atmosphère et ainsi une augmentation du phénomène d'effet de serre. Dans ce contexte, notre société se trouve devant une situation entièrement nouvelle pour l'humanité. Ce nouvel état nous oblige à découvrir des nouvelles sources d'énergies alternatives, abondantes, peu onéreuses et propres. Différents scénarios se profilent parmi lesquels, l'utilisation de l'hydrogène qui pourrait constituer un nouveau vecteur d'énergie. Notre travail a consisté à découvrir de nouvelles phases dans les diagrammes ternaires Nd-Ni-Mg et Gd-Cu-Mg en se focalisant sur la partie la plus riche en magnésium. Nous avons notamment mis en évidence 3 nouvelles compositions : NdNiMg5, GdCuMg4 et GdCuMg12. Les objectifs du livre ne consistaient pas à optimiser des systèmes déjà existants, mais à découvrir de nouveaux composés.
