La physique quantique, source de nombreuses applications, est maintenant devenue une science de base pour l'ingénieur, mais elle est souvent ressentie comme difficile d'accès. Ce livre propose, à trois niveaux de lecture, une approche progressive de ce domaine à partir de connaissances acquises dans le premier cycle universitaire. Partant d'une synthèse des concepts classiques (mécanique et électromagnétisme unifiés dans le cadre de la relativité restreinte), l'ouvrage analyse les faits expérimentaux les plus significatifs qui ont remis en cause tout l'édifice. On introduit ensuite les nouvelles notions théoriques en faisant ressortir la signification physique des outils mathématiques utilisés. Une attention particulière est portée aux concepts qui n'ont pas d'analogue en physique classique, comme le spin et les corrélations quantiques. La théorie est ensuite exposée pour rendre compte des propriétés élémentaires des atomes et des molécules. Ce livre fournit au lecteur une base donnant accès à des ouvrages plus spécialisés sur les phénomènes quantiques (physique statistique, optique quantique, physique du solide, physique nucléaire).Note de contenu :
