Rosmarinus officinalis and Cinnamonum zeylanicumIndex. décimale : 540 Chimie et sciences connexes Résumé : The present study deals with the extraction and characterization of two main classes of secondary metabolites, polyphenols and alkaloids, from three medicinal plants: Punica L, Rosmarinus officinalis and Cinnamonum zeylanicum. The antioxidant activities (DPPH, FRAP) and the metal chelation powers toward several metals (Fe, Zn, Cu, Co and Cr) of these secondary metabolites plants were also evaluated. The results revealed that all the extracted secondary metabolites had significant antioxidant capacities, however; the alkaloids were more active than polyphenols. The metal chelation tests showed that the active compounds of all the extracts had a great capacity to link the metals.
