Il s'agit de la réimpression de la traduction anglaise de 1972 (disponible chez Springer depuis 1989) des 7 premiers chapitres de 'Algèbre commutative' de Bourbaki. Il fournit un traitement très complet de l'algèbre commutative, permettant au lecteur d'aller plus loin et d'étudier la géométrie algébrique ou arithmétique. Les 3 premiers chapitres traitent successivement les concepts de planéité, de localisation et d'achèvement (dans le cadre général des graduations et des filtrations). Le chapitre 4 étudie les idéaux principaux associés et la décomposition primaire. Le chapitre 5 traite des nombres entiers, des fermetures intégrales et des algèbres finement générées sur un champ (y compris le Nullstellensatz). Le chapitre 6 étudie l'évaluation (de n'importe quel rang) et le dernier chapitre se concentre sur les diviseurs (Krull, Dedekind ou domaines factoriels) avec une section finale sur les modules sur des domaines Noetherian intégralement fermés, qui ne se trouvent généralement pas dans les manuels scolaires. Ce livre est une traduction en anglais de la dernière édition française des Fonctions d'une variable Réelle de Bourbaki.
Le premier chapitre est consacré aux dérivés, aux extensions de Taylor, au théorème des incréments finis, aux fonctions convexes. Dans le deuxième chapitre, les primitives et les intégrales (à intervalles arbitraires) sont étudiées, ainsi que leur dépendance par rapport aux paramètres. Les fonctions classiques (exponentielles, logarithmiques, circulaires et circulaires inverse) sont étudiées dans le troisième chapitre. Le quatrième chapitre donne un traitement approfondi des équations différentielles (propriétés d'existence et d'unicité des solutions, solutions approximatives, dépendance des paramètres) et des systèmes d'équations différentielles linéaires. L'étude locale des fonctions (relations de comparaison, extensions asymptotiques) est traitée au chapitre V, avec une annexe sur les champs Hardy. La théorie des extensions généralisées de Taylor et la formule d'Euler-MacLaurin sont présentées dans le sixième chapitre et appliquées dans la dernière à l'étude de la fonction Gamma sur la ligne réelle ainsi que sur le plan complexe.
Bien que les sujets du livre soient principalement d'un niveau avancé de premier cycle, ils sont présentés dans la généralité nécessaire à des fins plus avancées: les fonctions autorisées à prendre des valeurs dans les espaces vectoriels topologiques, les extensions asymptotiques sont traitées sur un ensemble filtré équipé d'une échelle de comparaison, Les théorèmes sur la dépendance aux paramètres des équations différentielles sont directement applicables à l'étude des flux de champs vectoriels sur les collecteurs différentiels, etc.Note de contenu :
