Titre : Biology Laboratory Manual Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Darrell S. Vodopich, Auteur ; Randy Moore, Auteur Editeur : ‎ McGraw Hill Année de publication : 2022 Importance : 1 vol. (602 p.) Présentation : ill.en coul. Format : 28 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-265-13673-4 Langues : Français Catégories : Biologie ( B-Cellulaire - B-Animale - B-Végétale - B-moléculaire - Cytologie ) Mots-clés : - Biologie : Manuels de laboratoire Index. décimale : 571.1 Physiologie animale - Biologie animale, biologie fonctionnelle et structurale.. Résumé :
The Biology Laboratory Manual by Vodopich and Moore was designed for an introductory biology course with a broad survey of basic laboratory techniques. The experiments and procedures are simple, safe, easy to perform, and especially appropriate for large classes. Few experiments require more than one class meeting to complete the procedure. Each exercise includes many photographs, traditional topics, and experiments that help students learn about life. Procedures within each exercise are numerous and discrete so that an exercise can be tailored to the needs of the students, the style of the instructor, and the facilities available.
Additionally, with McGraw Hill Connect, powerful digital tools augment lab instruction by helping students apply their knowledge in a laboratory setting. Connect Virtual Labs can be implemented in a hybrid or fully online setting to help students prepare for the wet lab and strengthening their lab experience.Note de contenu : Sommaire:

Environmental Geology, 5e focuses on the fascinating interaction between humans and the geologic processes that shape Earth's environment. Because this text emphasizes how human survival is highly dependent on the natural environment, students should find the topics to be quite relevant to their own lives and, therefore, more interesting. One of the key themes of this textbook is that humans are an integral part of a complex and interactive system scientists call the Earth system. Throughout the text the author explains how the Earth system responds to human activity and how our actions affect the very environment in which we live. A key point is that our activity often produces unintended and undesirable consequences. A good example from the text is how engineers have built dams and artificial levees to control flooding on the Mississippi River. But this has caused unintended changes in the geologic environment. For thousands of years, the rate at which the river deposited sediment in the Mississippi Delta was approximately equal to the rate that the sediment compacted under its own weight. Because the two rates were similar, the land surface remained above sea level. However, by using dams and artificial levees to confine the Mississippi River to its channel, humans disrupted the delicate balance between sediment deposition and compactionNote de contenu :
Sommaire:
-1- Humans and the geologic environment
-2- Earth from a larger perspective
-3- Earth materials
-4- Earth's structure and plate tectonics
-5- Earthquakes and related hazards
-6- Volcanoes and related hazards
-7- Mass wasting and related hazards
-8- Streams and fooding
-9- Coastal hazards
-10-Soil resourcesEnvironmental geology [texte imprimé] / James S. Reichard . - Fifth edition. . - [S.l.] : ‎ McGraw Hill, 2023 . - 1 vol. (576 p.) : ill.en coul. ; 29 cm.
