Anti-inflmmatory activity Antioxidant activity Polyphenols Flavonoids. Résumé :
Artemisia campestris, locally known as "T'gouft" and belonging to the Asteraceae family, has been traditionally used in algerian traditional medicine and as a condiment. Artemisia is recognized for its various bioactivities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. This study aimed to assess the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential of Artemisia. The hydro-methanolic extract was analyzed through in vitro tests to evaluate phenolic content and antioxidant activity. Total phenolics and flavonoids were analyzed using Folin-Ciocalteu and aluminum chloride methods and the contents were154.8±2.74μgEqGA/mgand 34.59 ± 0.98μgEqQ/mg of extract, respectively. The antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH assay, revealing a remarkable antioxidant property of the AC extract with an IC50 value of 120.04 ± 1.02μg/ml. Moreover, the methanolic extract showed a highly significant inhibition of paw edema induced by carrageenan in mice, comparable to diclofenac, with 200 and 400 mg/kg doses. These findings support the traditional use of A. campestris in treating inflammatory diseases, highlighting its appreciable anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.En ligne : http://dspace.univ-setif.dz:8888/jspui/bitstream/123456789/5711/1/BAPP-CD235---- [...] Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of the methanolic extract of Artemisia campestris L.
