Titre : Evaluation of the antioxidant activity of the ethanolic extract from Rhanterium spp. Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Sarra Neghad, Auteur ; Imene Ben Haroun, Auteur ; Assia Bentahar, Directeur de thèse Editeur : Sétif : Faculté des Sciences de la Nature et de la Vie Année de publication : 2024 Importance : 43 Feuilles ISBN/ISSN/EAN : MS/2038 Langues : Anglais Catégories : Thèse et mémoire:Master:Physiologie cellulaire et physiopathologie Mots-clés : Rhanterium spp. Oxidative stress Antioxidant activity Ethanolic extract. Résumé :
The aim of this study was to estimate the value of polyphenols and flavonoids and to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the ethanolic extract of Rhanterium spp. which belongs to the Asteraceae family (Compositeae). The antioxidant activity was assessed using five different tests: the DPPH radical scavenging test, the hydrogen peroxide scavenging test, Chelation activity of Fe2+, ferric thiocyanate (FTC) and Thiobarbituric Acid (TBA) test. Polyphenols and flavonoids had 4.974± 92.259mg and 0.149±0.183mg equivalent to gallic acid and quercetin respectively. The DPPH radical scavenging capacity (IC50) of the extract was estimated at 0.068±0.004mg/ml compared to BHT which gave an IC50 value of 0.026±0.0006mg/ml, the H2O2 scavenging test also showed an activity of 3.241±0.124mg/ml compared with vitamin C as a control, which showed an activity of 0.017 ±0.001mg/ml. As for the chelation activity on Fe2+ gave a value of 0.235±0.020mg/ml compared with EDTA, which gave a value of 0.003±0.0005mg/ml. Finally, the FTC test gave a value of 37.23±1.276% compared to BHT and Vit C which showed a value of 67.397±2.351% and 50.389±1.2016respectively. The TBA test gave a value of 41.590±2.933% compared to BHT which gave 83.997±6.393% and Vit C which gave 33.109±3.123%. These results confirm that the plant contains active compounds that act as antioxidants.Evaluation of the antioxidant activity of the ethanolic extract from Rhanterium spp. [document électronique] / Sarra Neghad, Auteur ; Imene Ben Haroun, Auteur ; Assia Bentahar, Directeur de thèse . - Sétif : Faculté des Sciences de la Nature et de la Vie, 2024 . - 43 Feuilles.
