Blood cancers affect the production and function of the blood cells. Most of these cancers start in the bone marrow where blood is produced. This cancers develop when blood cells aren't made properly. The three main groups of blood cancer are leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Leukemia is cancer of the body's blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system. The four types of leukemia are acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, chronic myeloid leukaemia, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Lymphoma is a type of cancer that begins in cells of the lymph system with two main types Hodgkins lymphoma and Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Multiple myeloma, also known as myeloma is a blood cancer that develops in plasma cells in the bone marrow, which is divided on smouldring multiple myeloma and active multiple myeloma. Blood cancer is caused by mutations in the DNA within blood cells.
