Résumé :
Plant-derived essential oils provide a natural solution for crop protection due to their promising pesticidal properties, widespread availability, and perceived safety. In this study, the insecticidal effect of L. angustifolia essential oil was evaluated on D. melanogaster, a non-target and model species commonly used to assess insecticide effectiveness. The essential oil was topically applied to third-instar larvae at two doses, ID25 (0.16 μg/ larva) and ID50 (0.57 μg/larva), and their effect on various developmental traits was subsequently evaluated. Results from contact treatments revealed that the L. angustifolia essential oil at their sublethal and lethal effects values (ID25 and ID50) induce a significant reduction in the percentage of pupation and emergence of D. melanogaster adults. Our experiment also indicated that both lethal and sublethal activity values of L. angustifolia essential oil had a noticeable effect on the developmental stages of the individuals of the exposed generation, such as significantly decreased pupal weight and size as well as prolonged pupal development duration. These findings suggest that L. angustifolia essential oil can be used as a biopesticide in integrated pest management programs as a substitute for synthetic pesticides.Biological activity of Lavandula angustifolia essential oil on Drosophila melanogaster [document électronique] / Melissa Zahra Khoudri, Auteur ; Rayene Righi, Auteur ; Bilel Boulahbel, Directeur de thèse . - Sétif (Algérie) : Faculté des sciences de la Nature et de la vie, Université Ferhat Abbas Sétif 1, 2025 . - 48 Feuilles.
