Titre : The antibiotic resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Safa Berrou, Auteur ; Rayane Boukna, Auteur ; Meriem El Kolli, Directeur de thèse Editeur : Sétif : Faculté des Sciences de la Nature et de la Vie Année de publication : 2024 Importance : 29 Feuilles ISBN/ISSN/EAN : MS/1944 Langues : Anglais Catégories : Thèse et mémoire:Master:Microbiologie appliquée Mots-clés : Mycobacterium tuberculosis Antibiotic resistance Genetic mutations Multi drug resistance Genes of resistance. Résumé :
The emergence of antibiotic-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) poses a significant global health challenge, undermining efforts to control and eradicate tuberculosis (TB). This study provides a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms underlying antibiotic resistance in Mtb, including genetic mutations, efflux pumps, and biofilm formation. Key findings indicate that mutations in the rpoB gene confer resistance to rifampicin, while mutations in the katG and inhA genes are associated with isoniazid resistance. Mutations in the gyrA and gyrB genes have been implicated in fluoroquinolone resistance, and alterations in the rpsL and rrs genes are linked to streptomycin resistance. Additionally, the role of efflux pumps in multi-drug resistance (MDR-TB) is explored. The study also identifies biofilm formation as a significant factor in persistent infection and drug tolerance. Addressing antibiotic resistance in Mtb requires a multifaceted approach, integrating enhanced diagnostic tools, new drug development, and robust public health initiatives to curb the spread of resistant strains and improve patient outcomes. The antibiotic resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis [document électronique] / Safa Berrou, Auteur ; Rayane Boukna, Auteur ; Meriem El Kolli, Directeur de thèse . - Sétif : Faculté des Sciences de la Nature et de la Vie, 2024 . - 29 Feuilles.

This Textbook builds on the success of the earlier edition, offering alternative strategies for discovering new antibiotics. It discusses how the various types of antibiotics and related drugs work to cure infections. Then it delves into the very serious matter of how bacteria are becoming resistant to these antibiotics. It also covers the global action plan on antimicrobial resistance from the World Health Organization and discusses several Antibiotic Stewardship Programs adopted by agencies at local levels.
Appropriate for a one-semester course at either the graduate or advanced undergraduate level, the book is self-contained and written in accessible language. It includes all necessary background biochemistry material and a discussion of the latest developments in the field of antibiotics. Original research works are frequently cited and experimental procedures and interpretation of results are emphasized.

Résumé :
Helicobacter pylori is emerging as the most currently threatening bacteria that causes severe problems to the health of individuals worldwide in particular living in an undeveloped environment like Africa. Currently it has shown great resistance to the antibiotics that are used to fight it whereby the first and second line treatment, which includes a combination of a proton pump inhibitor, and antibiotics have failed to fight this threatening bacterium. So, scientific researchers have developed an improved technique such as novel therapeutic strategies which include the use of Nanoparticles, phages and natural products to fight this challenging bacterium. The use of these novel therapeutic strategies have led to a great hope for the biological world in eradicating this bacterium as they obtain positive results in eradicating it.The Antimicrobial Resistance of Helicobacter pylori in Africa [document électronique] / Antony William Mafuru, Auteur ; Hani Belhadj, Directeur de thèse . - Sétif (Algérie) : Faculté des sciences de la Nature et de la vie, Université Ferhat Abbas Sétif 1, 2025 . - 33 Feuilles ; PDF.
