Résumé : |
In southern Algeria, the sandstorm can cause significant damage for surfaces of brittle materials such as glass. The latter is used in building construction, automotive, manufacturing plates of protection for solar panels and other uses of everyday in life. When the sand particles arrive at the glass surface with a high speed, the material is extracted. By repeating this operation, the surface will be damaged. When light passes through this surface, it will be scattered. Our work focuses on the study of light scattered by these damaged surfaces. we prepare samples by projection of different amounts of sand on squarish glass using a device called a blower. The study of the scattered light is carried out by using an optical arrangement which constitutes by an illumination system and a detection system. We studied the dependence of the intensity of scattered light transmission and reflection as a function of angle of incidence and of the scattering angle, and the limit of visibility is determined. The results show that scattered light is important for large amounts of sand, for short distances of detections and small scattering angles. |
