Antibioresistance is a problem caused by the overuse and misuse of antibiotics. It can be transmitted from livestock to humans through direct contact, consumption of contaminated food or water, or environmental transmission. This study aims to assess the level of knowledge among livestock farmers about antibiotic resistance in animals. To achieve this goal, a sample of 24 farmers completed a survey covering their knowledge of antibiotic resistance. The results of the study indicate that farmers in Algeria have a limited awareness of livestock, possibly due to a lower educational level including the appropriate use of antibiotics in antibiotherapy. This reveals that they rely heavily on veterinary assistance compared to farmers in other countries. The findings highlight the need for better education and training programs focused on livestock management. By enhancing farmers' knowledge and skills in this area, they can rely less on veterinary assistance. |
